Different swim suits are made from different fabrics and it's important to know the purpose of the swim suit.
Polyester: Is the best for repeat exposure to chlorine- as practice, Aqua Fitness or frequent recreational use. Last longer, has very little stretch so sizing is very important.
Lycra: These suits are fine for racing, light recreational wear or for occasional meets. They will not hold up to chlorine for more than a few months. They will fade, stretch and become thin.
Aquablade: Used only for competition and must fit very tight. It helps to reduce turbulent drag
caused by a swimmer, moving through the water.
Fastskin: The Fastskin fabric is comprised from "super stretch" fabric made to improve the suit's fit while compressing muscles. The result is a reduction in drag and muscle vibration, which increases productivity.
Fastskin II: It's a combination of Fastskin and Flexskin. gives a better "second skin".
TREAT IT WELL:
Start with a good quality swimsuit and it will last longer
After swimming in the ocean or the pool, always rinse your swimsuit with regular tap water. By doing so, you will eliminate most of the salt and chlorine, the chemicals that effect the material. From time to time you should also hand wash in cool water. Never use bleach. Special swimsuit cleaners are available. Never wash your swimsuit in a washing machine.
- Avoid putting your swimsuit away until it's completely dry
- Hang your dry swimsuit inside and not outside, because sun causes color fabrics to fade.
- Be careful where you seat, lay or lean.Pool sides and many decks are rough so you don't slip.
Enjoy your swim!
